OK--Zoo and Guns (Dec. '10)

Clearly, this is not Oklahoma. Dustin and I got to spend the weekend on Coronado Island for a Managers' Retreat! It was a gorgeous weekend, of which, I only took this one picture. "Baaaaaxxxteeeer!" Name that movie. It's a good movie!

Saying goodbye at the airport. I hate goodbyes. I love my parents.

How great is this picture? Mom is a sure-shot! I was impressed with her hand-held gun skills, yo!

This stuffed dog got capped, son!

This gun looks especially small for Dustypoo, huh? Don't worry, it could cause some damage! Dustin is a gangsta, boooooy!

When we arrived at the dam, the entire area was FILLED with someone's personal effects. Actually, more than their personal effects--it was like someone cleared out an entire house of stuff and dumped it here. There were photos, stuffed animals, clothing, DVDs, Christmas ornaments, school work, etc. We took full advantage of these items by placing them as targets. A DVD of Denzel Washington was one of our favorites--he was quite elusive....until I popped him square in the cheek--sucka!

Um, scooty ride with Grandpa? Usually, it's a bit more enticing.

Nenner bought a zoo pass and got us all in for FREE!! Plus, we got to ride the carousel and train for free! Thanks, Jenn! Tulsa has a really nice zoo.

Scott became quite tired walking around in his walker, so Kavella gladly took over! Once she got her hands on it, she didn't let go until we left the park! She loved pushing it around! Uncle Shane carried Scotty on his shoulders all the way to the car.

Ha, ha, ha!! Mom and Shane went on a little scooty ride around the hood--apparently they jumped the Makins' dirt mound with ease...well, maybe it wasn't eaaaasssy on Mom's bum. Dustin was busy trying to get the other scooter started. Unfortunately, we never did get it up and running. The thing is pretty ancient, so I wasn't surprised, but I was disappointed that we didn't get to go on a ride, too! :( Back to the zoo...

Train ride!

What an enjoyable day at the zoo!

OK--Woolaroc Trip! (Dec. '10)

Kavella's lucky-duck cousins get to live close enough to Grandpa to do lots of fun things with him! One of the fun things to do with Grandpa is fishing! Near Jenn's house, there is a little pond and park, which the kids got to visit and thoroughly enjoyed!

Isn't Dustin just so handsome? He is pretty much perfect in my book--I trust him in/with EVERYTHING!! He is meticulous when it comes to tracking our finances, he is responsible with his church responsibilities, he is ambitious, he is patient/loving/kind to children, he can fix/solve ANYTHING, he spoils me with foot/back rubs, he gives Kavella the attention she needs/wants, he is humble and he shows respect for others. I love you, Dust! Oh, Scotty is a little handsome gem, too!

When it comes to "the great outdoors," nobody knows it better than Grandpa Roberts! He is an expert at fishing, camping, off-roading, white-water adventures, hiking, biking, rock climbing, spelunking and more! What a fun Dad/Grandpa he is!

Cute kids!

Dustin was so good at helping Scotty walk! He gave him many opportunities to practice walking, which pretty much melted my heart! I love these two guys!

Woolaroc! This Oklahoma treat is about an hour-and-a-half from my parents' house, but it's totally worth the drive! Take a gander at all the wildlife we encountered!

Okay, this isn't wildlife, but it was wild! I was only inches from checking under his loincloth...Peek-a-boo!! Jenn was sticking to his abs.

Buffalo.

Long-horned....bull. Bull? I don't really know.

The buffalo were just out in the open, so it was important to keep children in their vehicles. Kavella and Dalin only kept as little of their bodies in Grandpa's car as possible. This picture is actually in front of the ostrich display--he was definitely fenced it. We fed him cashews. Lucky bird.

This buffalo would suck your trash up into his mouth! Dalin was the only grandkid brave enough to "feed" him.

What can I say? It was cold outside. We actually DO have lips, I swear.

After seeing the animals outside, we ventured into a museum that contained a vast array of Oklahoma history. We thought it was just a couple of rooms, so we spent a significant amount of time viewing the paintings, shrunken heads, Native American beadwork and pottery of the first two rooms, but it turned out that this museum was some four-stories and ten football lengths large. It just kept going. We spent significantly less time in all the other rooms.

OK Christmas 2010

Mom made the tastiest Christmas dinner of ham, rolls, strawberry jello, salad, green beans, potatoes, a spiked grape-lemonade concoction, etc. Mom is so selfless--she serves her family cheerfully! Not only that, but she is a very talented chef--you should see how perfectly round her rolls are! Each one is EXACTLY the same size as the next--just like her cookies! I know I have a picture of the other half of our crew somewhere....maybe in Dustin's phone.

Our family! I think Jared is the only one missing...I can't enlarge the photo to check, so I guess we'll see when I post this! What fun it was to be with everyone!

Christmas morning came at a decent hour--7:00, which is really 5:00 a.m. CA time. We had our usual staircase photo, which is probably in Dustin's phone too.

A little tight in the piano/organ room, but that's how we like it! Gwant, aren't you just a little nectarine!

Dustin and Shane were very excited that Santa came!

B-ryce and me. Doesn't he look smashing with his buzz cut? Why, yes, he did get that the minute he walked into Mom's house!

We got Kavella these magical markers that only work on certain paper. Curiosity struck her...what do these markers do? How do they perform? What do they smell like?

Mmmmm, they smell gooooood! So began the effects of huffing--the gateway to Robitussin abuse.

Our efforts of a consensual photo (amongst two cute cousins) was thwarted by their interest in the loot they had just received. Woody needed a wind-up and hot cocoa had to be consumed.

Mom is so boochie boo cute!

Dustin is a little nugget of joy!

Sitting with Grandpa. Can you tell that something is on t.v.? It was difficult enough getting Dad to look away for a quick picture; I wasn't even about to attempt an interruption with Kavella.

My siblings--I don't know what is so hard about taking a clear picture. I love my family.

Once you've shot guns by the dam, been glow-bowling, eaten at Whataburger and visited Woodland Hills Mall, there's not much else to do in OK besides go to the movies....which we did...a lot. Most of them ended up being in 3D, so we accumulated a few pairs of special glasses like the ones Kavella and D are donning!
