(Well, forgive me for being the parent who has to discipline her during the day--when her Dad gets home, it's just all fun and play!  I swear I'm affectionate, loving, compassionate and gentle, too! Sheesh!)

Kavella's Thoughts

We went to visit Granny and Poppy at their ranch. During Sacrament meeting at church, Kavella spotted a gentleman wearing an eye patch.  With no small level of amazement (and volume), she stated, “Look—a pirate!”  He most definitely heard it.

Whilst having our books ‘checked-out’ by our one-armed librarian, Kavella got a look of concern and said, “Mom!..... She broke her arm…..RIGHT…OFF!”  (09-04-2012)

Before heading off to a movie, I informed Kavella that we had to stop by the bank before going.  I had a podiatrist named Dr. Bank and Kavella queried, “Do you have to get a little poke (a shot) before the movie?”   (09-05-2012)

After I got out of the shower, Kavella observed, “Mom, your boobs look….dooowwwn.”  (said with a southern draw or country accent, of sorts)  (09-17-2012) Wah, wah, waaaahhh.

While Curren was napping, Kavella asked, “Mom, can we go pick up a baby when Curren wakes up?  We can pick up TWO baby girls.  I need a baby sister that doesn’t bite and hit me.” (09-17-2012)

While putting her to bed, she said, “Mom, I wish you had blonde hair like me.”  “Trust me, so do I,” I responded.  “Well, actually, I wish you had sandy hair like Daddy’s” she determined.   “But, don’t you think my brown hair looks beautiful on me?” I asked.  She thought for a minute and said, “No.  You need sandy hair like Daddy.”  (09-18-2012)

After displaying great effort to produce a bowel movement and finding success, Kavella exclaimed, “I take-ed a dig like my Daddy!” (09-19-2012)

“I tore-ed that bathroom up!”  (After going potty)
“I miss-ed you, Daddy!” (Everything past-tense is pronounced with an extra “ed” at the end.)

As I was checking out at a Nordstrom register that happened to be near the lingerie department, Kavella grabbed a bright pink, lacy bra (size DD) and said, “I want this Mom!”  I told her she’d have to wait until she was a little bit older and grew boobies to fit into it.  Without skipping a beat, she exclaimed with excitement, “But, I DO have boobies…..see?”  Then, she lifted her shirt and pointed to reveal exactly what she was describing!  She provided a goodly amount of entertainment for the ladies working in that department!

“Mom!  I learn-ed something!”   “Oh, yeah, what’s that?” I asked.   “I learn-ed to jump over Curren’s head!!” (Oct.2012) Awesome.

In reference to some shoes that she had outgrown, Kavella stated, “Don’t worry Mom….I can wear them when I grow down.”

Kavella and Daddy were wrestling.  Curren joined in.  Kavella yelled, “We tag-team-ed you, Daddy!” (Oct. 2012)

“Mom, when you feeded me with your boobies…”  “Yes?”   “Did they get really, really, really, really small?” (October 2012) Well, thank you.

Shortly after moving into our first home, I was feeling quite anxious about the never-ending repairs and work that needed to be accomplished.  Everywhere I looked, it was a disaster zone!  I went into my closet to get dressed and became even more overwhelmed at the prospect of finding something, ANYTHING to wear that wasn’t outdated or that didn’t require layering (aka sweating).  I ended up sitting on my closet floor exclaiming, “I give up!  I can’t do this anymore!”  Kavella comes in and asks, “What’s the matter Mom?”  “I’m just SOOOO frustrated, Kavella. I can’t take this house anymore.”  Sweetly, Kavella began to pat my back and play with my hair while saying, “It’s okay Mom…don’t be frustrated.  Heavenly Father gave us this house last night, remember?  It’s gonna be okay.  You’re gonna be alright, Mom.  You gotta be happy!  You just gotta be happy, Mom.  Show me your big smile!  Let me see your big smile, Mom!”  Obviously, I obliged and showed her my huge grin and she said, “Wow!  That IS a big smile!  I can see all your teeth! That is a happy smile!”  My heart absolutely melted into a puddle of love for Kavella.   As I hugged her tightly, she continued to pet my hair and pat my back.  What a thoughtful, loving, sweet gift from Heavenly Father Kavella is!  (October 24, 2012)

I took the kids to Disneyland where we watched a little sneak-peek of “Frankenweenie” that was being played in the Muppet’s Theater.  Kavella and I were sitting in the theater chairs and Curren was chilling in his stroller.  Throughout the production, I kept shoving little pieces of cereal into Curren’s mouth (and a few into Kavella’s mouth) to keep him quiet and satisfied.  After the production, as we were waiting in line for another ride, Kavella said, “Mom, you need to be obedient.”  “Oh, yeah?  Obedient to what?”  “Well, when you go to Frankenweenie, you can’t eat.  They said, ‘no eating and no drinking’ in Frankenweenie.  If you eat in Frankenweenie, you’re gonna get a consequence.  You shouldn’t eat in Frankenweenie, Mom.  That was naughty because I heard them say that you can’t eat in Frankenweenie, Mom….and you were eating.  You’re gonna have to get a consequence.  You need to be obedient in Frankenweenie, Mom.”  She kept going on and on and on about it throughout the entire line!  The other parents in line couldn’t keep from giggling…and neither could I!

After coming home from the beach, Kavella informed me, “Mom, when you go to the beach and get sand in your bunhole….it’s not fun.”  Ha, ha!!  Bunhole.  (October 2012)

After going potty and NOT washing her hands, I asked Kavella, “Did you wash your hands?” “Yes,” she replied.  Knowing that she didn’t, I asked her if she was lying and reminded her that Heavenly Father knows when she is telling the truth or lying and He always wants her to tell the truth!  “Are you sure you washed your hands, Kavella?” I asked again.  Not answering, she walked away, washed her hands and returned with a look of relief.  “That was close, Mom!”  “What was close?” I asked.  Holding her nose, she said, “My nose almost started to grow!”   (November 2012)

I was tucking Kavella into bed one evening, and we always snuggle and chat for a minute at bedtime, so I laid down beside her and we started talking about our day.  A few minutes later, Daddy got home from work and came into her room.  Promptly, Kavella instructed, “Mom, can you get out of here so I can snuggle with my Daddy?”  Fine.  I can’t compete with Dad!  (Nov. 2012)

Hoping Kavella would say ‘back to Heavenly Father,’ I asked her, “Do you know where we go after we die?”  Quickly, she responded, “Yes!  We go to the cemetery.” (Nov. 2012)

“Turn that down, please!” I instructed Kavella, regarding the ipod.  “But, Mom, I’m bowling.  It’s loud when you go bowling.  That’s how they do it,” she said.  “Have you ever actually BEEN bowling?” I asked.  “Yes, Mom.”  “When?!”  “I’ve been bowling a LOT of times on the ipod, Mom!” she purported.  (Nov. 2012)

While Grant and Jenny were visiting, we were all gearing up to go on a bike/skateboard/kid trailer ride to the beach.  As we doled out all the modes of transportation, we realized we didn’t have enough bikes for EVERYONE to ride.  Jenny was 8 months pregnant.  Before Dustin could suggest that he’d ride his skateboard and let Jenny ride his bike, Kavella said to Jenny, “We don’t have any more bikes….but you can ru-un!”  Ha, ha, ha!  (July 2012)

Roberts' Reunion

This is Mom being the little busy-bee that she is!  Mom can do anything...ANYTHING!  Right when she arrived, she fixed a button on a dress, started some laundry, probably made dinner and did dishes, and got right to work on measuring, cutting, pasting and tying ribbon onto about 130 handouts for Girls' Camp!  Of course, they were each absolutely perfect.  Perfect!  Just like Mom....I love you, Mom!

Mom and Dad came out for the Roberts' Reunion, which was up in Santa Barbara (about an hour and a half north).  Mom stayed with me for an extra week after the reunion!  I love when my family visits me!

The Roberts camp on the beach for a week!  It is so fun to spend time together, play in the sand, eat meals together, play games and sit around a bonfire at night.  I have the coolest, most fun family!   I decided to shack up at Motel 6, just so I wouldn't have to camp with a 1-yr-old.  I'm pretty sure it was dirtier in that hotel than at the beach, but at least Curren had a quiet, climate-controlled room to nap/sleep in!

Oh, I just wanted a nice side-profile shot of the infamous double-chin gene.  We ALL have one!  We can't help it!  But, look how snubbly Curren and Grandpa are together...with their double-chins...

Super stuffed with Unkie Josh!

Talent show!

Beach time!

Uncle Kenny, Uncle Bruce and cousin Avery

Kavella loved her GREAT Uncle Kenny; he taught her all about sandcrabs!

Lunch time!

Curren's GREAT Aunt Stacy

Uncle Auka taught us a 'haka' dance...at least, I think that's what it's called...

Gramps telling stories...about near-death experiences, I'm sure.

Jeremy and Aunt VaLynn

Cousin Jordan and Uncle Josh

Water balloon bombing!

GREAT Aunt Katy and Uncle Auka.  Curren is trying to do the haka still...

Mom is so awesome--she bought me a much-needed new bedspread AND painted my room to match it!  Home pictures are coming soon...

Cabin Weather

It's cabin time, time, time!  Dan and LesLey let us head up to their cabin; we love the mountains!  I strapped Curren into the Bjorn, told Kavella to get her hiking boots (aka Converse) on, and we were off!

Every Daddy should play "spa day" with his daughter.

We hiked up to Keller Peak where we could see the whole smoggy valley!

Curren is really paying the price for us buying ONLY "girl" colors when Kavella was a baby!

I know, I know--I got really anxious too, when I saw how close Curren's Cheeto-covered fingers were to Dustin's face....whoa, whoa, back up little guy!  Or is it just me? Anywhere except my face, is all I'm sayin'...

Look at that snubbly, delicious face Curren grew!  It is so round, fat and tasty!

Kavella, you sweet, cute girl!  She loves throwing rocks with her Dad...but, it's more fun to go riding!! Yes, yes I am jealous.

San Diego Sans Kids

Kavella's ready for the beach!

WTI summer party at Boomers!

Cousin Conner was a champ to go on all the rides with Kavella!

Train ride to San Diego!  Dust had some work business down there, so I asked Deina to watch my babes, and I headed south solo!  It was.....really nice.

Here are a few shots on the way to San Diego....

I feel like Dustin should have a large engagement ring on in this picture--"Look who's engaged!"

Coronado Bridge.  "This burrito is delicious, but it is filling."  Poor Baxter.

Dan took WTI empoloyees/friends on one of those extraordinarily large ships that planes take-off from and land-on.  It was really neat!

Jan, Bob, Chris and Donnie--some of Dustin's co-workers (above).  San Diego skyline (below)--doesn't it kinda look like Legos?

Granite/marble yard.
